Modern Language Courses at all levels follow the National Standards for Foreign Language Learning: Communication, Culture, Connections, Comparisons, and Communities. For more information, see www.actfl.org.
Thomas Jefferson students enjoy an active and highly successful Latin program. We offer classes in levels 1 through Advanced Placement. While many incoming freshman will continue their Latin studies which they began in 7th or 8th grade, there are also a good number who begin Latin 1 in 9th grade. There is an AP Latin class, usually for students in their 4th year, and a post-AP Latin V course in Literature for students wishing to pursue their Latin studies to the highest level. There are over 275 Latin students in the school taught by 2 full-time teachers (Ms. Conklin and Ms. Lister).
Besides the rigorous academic program, we are able to offer a variety of extra curricular options which are enjoyed by a wide range of students and which make TJ Latin such a great experience
