Gary Grosicki

Gary Grosicki is a native of Buffalo, NY. He is married and is the proud father of three FCPS children, two of whom are graduates of W.T. Woodson High. His daughter attends Sangster Elementary School.

After graduation from Northwestern University with a BS in Nuclear Engineering, Mr. Grosicki was commissioned as an officer in the United States Navy and volunteered for duty on nuclear submarines. He served in several positions aboard the USS Memphis (SSN-691), qualifying as Chief Engineer. Upon leaving the Navy, Mr. Grosicki worked in various positions as an engineer and analyst before culminating his private sector career as the Chief Operating Officer for a successful technology company. During this time, he earned a MS degree in Operations Research and Management Science from George Mason University.

Acting upon his passion to teach, Mr. Grosicki completed the Virginia Career Switcher Program and has been a professional educator since 2007. He earned his teaching credentials while at Cooper Middle School where he served as the Team Lead for the Physical Science Team. In 2011, Mr. Grosicki moved to W.T. Woodson High School, teaching chemistry and physics. There, he also served as the Physics Team Lead and, lastly, Science Department Chair. Mr. Grosicki earned a M.Ed. in Education Leadership from George Mason University in 2016. He was appointed as Assistant Principal for Science and Technology at Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology in August of 2016.

Mr. Grosicki is an avid traveler and is especially fond of exploring new cultures, cuisine and outdoor activities. He enjoys active adventures, especially in and around the water. When not traveling, he and his wife, Topaz, are avid readers and adventurous cooks. They also enjoy spending quiet time at home with their daughter and golden retriever when not away on new adventures.
